Senior Data Scientist

Role Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be working at the forefront of the Ethereum ecosystem. You will spend time finding insights at the core of the network - ranging from MEV to block-building to protocol upgrades like ERC-4337. Blocknative’s Mempool Archive is the largest source of pre-chain data in the world, and its growing at over 10,000 records per second. 

Your challenge will be to analyze large-scale datasets - helping to find insights that directly impact hundreds of thousands of ecosystem participants. In this rapidly evolving space you will be exposed to new concepts, ideas, and frameworks. Our start up culture will allow you to work closely with all aspects of the business, and really shine in building up our analytics process and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Distill contextual information from multiple sources in order to appropriately frame problems that can maximize business/product impact, biasing towards impactful simple solutions that can scale.
• Own the development/delivery of key metrics, analyses, and quantitative insights for Blocknative products via internal and external dashboards
• Collaborate w/ data team to initiate, develop, and maintain data pipelines.
• Perform analyses and build models using our unique dataset to understand blockchain transaction data, extracting key insights and communicating to stakeholders to impact product decisions
• Develop techniques to detect and explore anomalies in our data, uncover the source and address in a way that improves our products
• Identify opportunities in data that lead to new product development or strategic changes in existing products
• Provide thought leadership and guidance on our data products and their interpretation, sharing expertise both to internal stakeholders and to external community members
• Dive into ambiguous areas, define problems and opportunities for the team to work on the next influential projects
• Passion to initiate and lead projects to completion in a fast paced, ever changing, start-up environment

Requirements

• 5+ years relevant experience in data analysis
• Self-starter - takes initiative to identify opportunities to help shape the data science roadmap
• Ethereum experienced — proficient with the core concepts in the space. You should be fascinated by MEV, Block Building, and the core concepts of this rapidly evolving space
• A degree in a technical field such as Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or similar field; PhD or Masters preferred
• Track record of acting as a thought partner to product or engineering leaders, driving strategic decisions with these teams using data
• Experience as a thought leader within Data Science teams previously
• Deep domain knowledge in statistics and experience applying these concepts to decentralized transaction analysis
• Experience prototyping, productionizing, and maintaining machine learning model pipelines
• Experience establishing and maintaining ETL pipelines with workflow management tools (Airflow)
• Experience manipulating large amounts of structured and unstructured data
• Data analysis using SQL and Spark on multi-terabyte datastores
• Analysis and machine learning platforms such as Spark, TensorFlow, SageMaker
• Experience in at least one data analysis programming language (preferably Python)
