Role overview
We are looking for News Editor, EU shift. The position is fully remote, but the successful applicant must be a native speaker of English and be willing to work during the hours of 7am to 3pm London time. The EU shift News Editor reports to the Senior Editor, Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief.

Responsibilities
- Take charge of the EU news shift, editing and publishing all of the stories produced by the team of authors
- Monitor and assign the latest news and announcements that come through, without bias
- Quickly react to breaking news, helping to produce briefs of 100–150 words in 20 minutes or less
- Act as a manager for the team of writers and aid them in executing their KPIs
- Liaise with major companies, niche projects and stakeholders, conducting interviews and sourcing original and pertinent stories
- Help to write compelling headlines and social media copy. Work together with the SMM team to deliver newly published articles on social media
- Use our in-house style guide (a slightly modified variant of AP style) to copy edit all content
Requirements
- Experience editing news, follow-ups and interviews
- Experience in reporting on breaking news
- Deep knowledge of the cryptocurrency industry, at least 4+ years
- Experience in publishing content without supervision
- Experience in managing a team of writers
- Experience in communicating with marketing departments and PR agencies and dealing with requests
- Strong skills in interviewing and building relationships with sources
- Expert English writing and editing skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Work well within a team and the wider organization
- Ability to learn on the fly and keep track of day-to-day news flow in a quickly evolving industry
- Non-English language skills are a plus, especially Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish, Japanese or Russian
- Relevant bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of work experience
- A nose for a story and the instinct to ignore PR blitzes
